Day 6: What Love Is, or Is It?

What Love Is, or Is It?

· Love is not about reading minds, making assumptions or casting judgments. It’s about saying what’s on your mind without fear of rejection. Not even a hurtful truth can break the bond you share with the one you love.

· Love is not about having expectations about what you can get. It’s about not having any expectations at all. It’s about having only thoughts of giving and, because of that, you will get what you need too.

· Love is not demanding. It is not on a timetable. Love is what it is, when it is, with who it is. Love finds us. We don’t find it.

· Love is not about being deceptive, hiding your true self or your feelings. It’s about baring your soul and knowing that you will be loved no matter what.

· Love is not about money or whose bills get paid off first. It’s about going through life expecting to be disappointed, because you surely will be.

· Love is not about how much sex you have.

· Love is not about what you attempt to achieve in life, no matter what the cost.
· Love is stronger than pride.
· Love is something you have no control over.
· Love is about total acceptance of someone for who they are.
· Love is knowing that at the end of each day, you have someone to go home to, someone you trust with all you are or ever will be.

· Love is having that special someone look at you everyday with admiration and think that you’re beautiful inside and out, always.

· Love is never being tempted to lend your heart to another because the one you love is all you’ve ever wanted, and you know it.

· Love is knowing the one you love misses you every minute they’re not with you and knowing you fill their day with thoughts of you two together.

· Love is holding hands when you watch television together and holding each other close just before dropping off to sleep. You are the first thing your love thinks of when he or she wakes in the morning and his or her last thought at night.

· Love is knowing you are the last piece to the puzzle and that you complete him or her in a way no one else ever could.

· Love is about trust, truth and forgiveness because your heart will not allow you to do anything else.

· Love is a connection to another’s soul that cannot and will not ever be broken. Once you have this kind of love, it reigns over your heart forever. This is the only kind of love worth having.

· Love is knowing you’re the luckiest person alive because of what you have and sometimes because of what you don’t have. Love is being grateful for it every day.

· Love is about feeling weak in the knees at the thought of touching the one you love. It’s about every heartbeat you have.

· Love doesn’t have to be spoken. Love is about showing someone in a thousand little ways just how much you care.

· Love is knowing you could be happy with this person no matter where you live, how much money you have, or how many road blocks life throws in front of you.

· Love can’t be swayed by others’ opinions and can’t be measured on any scale.

· Love gives you peace and comfort in the quiet moments. It makes you wish you could slow down time, to freeze in those perfect moments when you catch yourself staring at your love, spellbound and overwhelmed.

· Love is the calm starry night when your life is a raging storm. It’s the voice of reason that talks you down from the cliff you’re about to jump off of. Love is your safety net, and nothing else in the world matters.

· Love is having someone who nurtures your soul, feeds your mind and fills up your heart.
· Love is powerful, something you never forget, take for granted, or walk away from.
· Love is about sharing in the joys and the troubles of the one you love. Love is shared laughter and tears, and adventure. Love is growing old together.

· Love makes you want to run into a burning building to save your partner because you don’t want to go through life without him or her.

· Love is kissing while you wait in line at the grocery store because you don’t care who sees you or what they might think.

If you ever have this kind of love and lose it for any reason, may God help you in getting through your loss.

If you’ve never had love like this, believe in it. It does exist.

The hard part is making sure, beyond a shadow of doubt, that each partner feels the same way about what love is and what it is not
